Strong · about 103 bits of strength
Made on your device with the browser's secure random generator. We never see it, and it is never sent anywhere.
Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: your files and text never leave your device.
What makes a password strong?
Length matters most. Each extra character multiplies the number of guesses an attacker needs, so a random password of 16 characters is far stronger than a clever 8-character one. Randomness matters too: names, dates and keyboard patterns are the first things guessed.
Use a different password for every account and keep them in a password manager so you do not have to remember them. This generator draws every character from the browser's cryptographically secure random source, and the password is shown only on your screen.
How to make a strong password
- Set the length. 16 or more is a good choice for most accounts.
- Choose the kinds of characters. Leave out look-alikes if you will type the password by hand.
- Click Copy, and save it in your password manager. Click New password for another.
Questions people ask
How long should a password be?
At least 12 characters, and 16 or more for important accounts such as email and banking. Longer is stronger.
Is it safe to generate a password in a web page?
Here it is made in your browser with secure randomness and is never sent to any server. You can even disconnect from the internet and it still works.
Should I use symbols?
They add strength, but length adds more. Some sites reject certain symbols, so untick them if a site complains.
Should I reuse a strong password?
No. If one site leaks it, every account that shares it is at risk. Use a different password for each account.
