Colours, shape and logo
The code stays readable because it uses the strongest error correction.

Your code appears here as you type.

Bigger is sharper when printed. The SVG is sharp at any size.

Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: your files and text never leave your device.

What is a QR code?

A QR code is a square barcode that a phone camera reads in a moment. Point the camera at it and the phone opens a web page, starts a WhatsApp chat, joins a Wi-Fi network or saves a contact. It turns anything you can type into something people can scan from a menu, a shop window, a business card or a poster.

The codes made here are static: the information is written into the pattern itself. That means they work forever, need no account and cannot be switched off by anyone, and it also means they cannot be edited later or count scans. If you change your link, make a new code. For a printed code, download the SVG: it stays sharp at any size.

How to make a QR code

  1. Choose what the code is for: a link, text, WhatsApp, Wi-Fi, phone, SMS, email, contact card or map location.
  2. Fill in the details. The code updates as you type, so you can scan it with your phone to check it.
  3. Open Colours, shape and logo if you want your brand colour or a logo in the middle. Keep a strong contrast between the code and the background.
  4. Download the PNG for screens and social posts, or the SVG for print. Test it with a phone before you print it.

Questions people ask

Is this QR code generator really free?

Yes. It is free, there is no sign-up, no watermark and no limit on how many codes you make.

Do the QR codes expire?

No. The codes are static, which means the information is inside the pattern. They work for as long as the thing they point to exists.

Can I see how many people scanned my code?

Not from the code itself, because static codes have no tracking. To measure scans, add campaign tags to your link with the UTM link builder first, then make the code from that link and watch the visits in your analytics.

What size should I print a QR code?

At least 2 x 2 cm (about 0.8 inch) for a code held in the hand, and bigger for anything scanned from a distance: roughly one tenth of the scanning distance. Leave a blank margin around it and test the printed code with more than one phone.

Can I put my logo in the middle of the code?

Yes. The codes use the strongest error correction, so a small logo in the centre does not stop them from scanning. Keep the logo small and always test the result.

Should I download PNG or SVG?

Use PNG for social posts, slides and websites. Use SVG for anything printed: it is a vector file, so it stays perfectly sharp on a poster or a sticker.
