Free image cropper

Choose a picture, pick a shape such as 1:1 or 9:16, drag the box to frame it and download the crop. The crop is cut from the full-size picture on your device.

Free, no sign-up. It runs in your browser: your files and text never leave your device.

What does cropping do?

Cropping cuts away the parts of a picture you do not want and keeps the rest at full quality. It is the way to turn a wide photo into a square for a profile picture, or a landscape shot into a tall 9:16 frame for a Story, without squashing anyone's face.

Choosing a shape locks the box to that ratio while you move and resize it. Free lets you drag it to any shape. The number boxes give exact pixel control, and the arrow keys nudge the box when it has focus, so it can be used without a mouse.

How to crop an image

  1. Choose a picture or drop it on the box.
  2. Pick the shape you need: 1:1, 4:5, 9:16, 16:9 or Free.
  3. Drag the box to frame the part you want and drag its corners to change the size, or type exact numbers.
  4. Choose PNG, JPG or WebP and download the crop.

Questions people ask

How do I crop a photo to a square?

Choose the 1:1 shape, drag the box over the part you want to keep, and download. The result is as many pixels square as the box covers in the original.

Does cropping reduce the quality?

Not by itself. The crop is cut from the original pixels, so the part you keep is as sharp as it was. Saving as JPG or WebP applies the usual compression.

Which shape is best for a Story or Reel?

9:16, which is 1080 x 1920 pixels. Use the image resizer afterwards if you need that exact size.

Can I crop with the keyboard?

Yes. Select the crop box with Tab and use the arrow keys to move it; hold Shift for bigger steps. The number boxes set exact sizes.

Are my pictures uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything happens inside your browser on your own device. Your pictures are never sent to a server, so it also works for private photos.
